On behalf of Stonehaven and District Motor Club may we welcome you to the Grampian Forest Rally 2018.
We are indebted to our stage sponsors and co-sponsors who have generously contributed to enable the event to take place. Without their enthusiasm and support for local motorsport rallying in north east Scotland would not survive.
Following on from the success of our 2017 event which gained extremely high competitor ratings we are returning to the forest stages we know you love. From an amazing 99% feedback response to the SRC survey we gained a rating of 4.8 out of a possible 5.0 for the stages; 98% considered that they were good or excellent.
The forests of Fetteresso, Durris and Drumtochty provide the competitive route of just under 45 miles and the liason route mileage is even more compact than previous. The route is a mixture of roads which have now gained reputation for quality and enjoyment, used in a different format with equally smooth and fast sections not used in recent years.
Our 2017 winner, David Bogie, was quoted as saying “these are the best stages I’ve done this year”- praise indeed from someone who had done many SRC and BRC events prior to the Grampian.
The events field at Milton of Crathes, near Banchory, is again the location for our rally base and scrutineering, documentation and central servicing will all take place at this one venue.
The ceremonial start will take place in Banchory town centre and local people and businesses are ready to welcome you all.
Attractive accommodation rates have been agreed with the Hampton by Hilton at Westhill, fifteen minutes from Crathes. Please check the accommodation page on the final page, or on our rally website, for details.
Finally, two faces, and voices, will be missing. Iain Urquhart and Bob Shepherd have both been instrumentally important in supporting the Grampian Forest Rally but are sadly no longer with us. When the last car is home we will raise a glass to them.
We look forward to welcoming competitors, officials and marshals- and all family and friends- to Kincardineshire in August.
